The Atelier
The editorial connection to Philippe Salvet. Garment construction, fabrics, tailoring, design development and the artisans behind them, examined from the world that informs the fashion house.
Philippe Salvet is the fashion house. The name is historic: a French fashion figure whose work was associated with Paris, Nice and Saint-Tropez during the mid-to-late twentieth century, and with the development of ready-to-wear on the Côte d’Azur. The documented record of the original house is set out in The Original House.
The house today is a revival of that name: contemporary clothing grounded in tailoring, craftsmanship, natural materials and considered design, interpreting the design philosophy of the original era rather than reproducing it. Maison de Philippe is the editorial world surrounding the revival. The fashion house designs and makes clothing. The Maison documents the places, objects, craftsmanship and ideas that inform the same sensibility: proportion, construction, materials, craft.
Garments from the fashion house may appear in these pages editorially, as part of that world. When they do, the relationship is identified. Collections, seasonal presentations and clothing itself are the fashion house's work, presented at philippesalvet.com, and are not sold under the Maison.

Construction
How a garment is put together: canvas, seam, shoulder and lining, and why the inside of a jacket decides how long it is worn.
Fabrics
Cloth before cut. Flannel, worsted, cashmere and linen, their weights, their mills, and what each is honestly for.
Design development
From reference to prototype: the design language of the late 1960s to early 1980s the revival draws on, pattern work, fittings, and revision. Interpretation, not reproduction.
Artisans
The tailors, knitters and leather workers whose methods the house depends on, profiled in The Maker.
Traditional manufacturing
Workshops that still cut by hand and finish by hand, and what that costs in time rather than in claims.
Fashion history
The decades the house returns to, read through garments rather than nostalgia.
Collections are presented by the fashion house
Maison de Philippe does not sell clothing and presents no collection for purchase. For the fashion house itself, its collections and its own presentation, visit Philippe Salvet directly.
Philippe SalvetEditorial disclosure. Maison de Philippe is the editorial world connected to the revival of Philippe Salvet. Articles about the fashion house identify that relationship. Sponsored content, affiliate relationships, gifted products and commercial partnerships are identified where they apply.
The Original House
The documented history of the name: a ready-to-wear garment held by the Palais Galliera in Paris, and recorded interviews held by the Archives départementales des Alpes-Maritimes. Documented history is presented as heritage; the revival is presented as new work.
